Edgar Degas : a new page is written

In September 2019, as a result of fifteen years work, the only digital Edgar Degas « catalogue raisonné », was first published online and remains the largest data bank on the artist available to all researchers, specialists, art dealers and auction houses.

Using today's most sophisticated data processing tools and resources, it offers free access to more than 1,750 paintings and pastels, a list of 3,200 exhibitions and 1,700 bibliographical references appertaining to the artist. In addition, the complete list of Degas' auctions from 1874 to the present day ( i.e. at least 1450 sales covering more than 5400 works) is now online. By clicking on the lot number, the viewer will be able on request to see the image and complete file on each work consulted.

« C’est un travail important et impressionnant que vous avez réalisé, et je vous en félicite »
Theodore Reff, 26 décembre 2022

Regularly updated and constantly expanded, this first digital « catalogue raisonné » is a significant step forward in the research and knowledge of Degas' work and the indispensable complement to the artist's « catalogue raisonné » compiled and published by Lemoisne in 1946.

Important developments and additions are already planned that will complete our digital « catalogue raisonné » currently online that already fills a huge gap in the knowledge of this artist.

This Degas catalogue raisonné is
- referenced at IFAR, International Foundation for Art Research, New York
- referenced on the website of the French Ministry of Culture, since October 2020
- referenced at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France since December 2022
