All Degas Auctions from 1874

This comprehensive corpus of Edgar Degas's public sales from 1874 to the present day includes 5800 lots (excluding sculptures).
The first public sale on January 13, 1874 at the Hôtel Drouot of La tribune des courses à Longchamp, which would later be known as False Start.
Numerous insights can already be drawn: the ratio between paintings, pastels and drawings, Degas's market according to periods and countries, and the constitution of major public and private collections. Degas's public sales are primarily concentrated between Paris, London, and New York. Since 1874, as of 2025, there have been more than 1700 sales in France, 600 in Great Britain, 750 in the United States, with the remainder distributed mainly between Germany, Switzerland and Japan.
Below is the current list of 5800 lots with their dates and locations. All these quantified data allow for a deeper understanding of Degas's work.
The content and details of each listed lot and related works can be communicated upon request.
